Minnesota State junior pitcher Brody Rodning has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Rodning, a lefthander from Gaylord, Minn., tossed a seven-inning complete-game shutout in a 1-0 win over Minnesota Duluth at U.S. Bank Stadium Friday. While limiting the Bulldogs to three hits, Rodning fanned seven batters while walking two in upping his record to 3-0 on the season. The shutout is his NSIC-leading second of the season and he lowered his earned run average to 0.38 (second lowest in the NSIC). He leads the league in fewest hits allowed (9) and batting average against (.115) this season.
This is the second time this year (and for his career) that he has been named NSIC Pitcher of the Week.
Minnesota State, which has won its last nine contests and stands 13-4 overall for 2017, plays a NSIC doubleheader at Winona State tomorrow (Wednesday) in its next action.
